Can You Advertise Prescription Drugs on Facebook, Google and TikTok?
Can an online pharmacy advertise prescription drugs? The Google, Meta and TikTok rules side by side, which certification each accepts, and the risks.
Article summary
TL;DR
Yes, in the US, but only after a certification and a platform approval. Google accepts LegitScript or NABP accreditation plus its own certification. Meta accepts only LegitScript, then requires its written authorization. TikTok asks pharmacies for LegitScript or NABP, and regulator approval to advertise a prescription drug. Without these, ads are rejected and accounts can be suspended.
- Google allows US online pharmacies accredited by LegitScript or NABP, and "Advertisers must also be certified with Google" (policy read November 2, 2026).
- Meta "requires online pharmacies and telehealth providers to be actively certified with LegitScript" and targets only the US, Canada or New Zealand.
- TikTok's US policy, updated in September 2026, accepts proof of certification from "NABP or LegitScript, or regional equivalent".
- LegitScript charges $975 to apply and $2,150 a year per website, and says certification "does not guarantee advertising approval".
- Since March 31, 2026, certified US pharmacies can promote prescription subscriptions in Google Merchant Center.

The rules at a glance
The three platforms agree on one thing: no certification, no ads. They differ on which certification and what comes next.

- TikTokNABP or LegitScript, or regional equivalentProof of certification; for a prescription drug, proof of regulator approval
Meta is the only one that takes LegitScript alone.

How your ads affect your merchant account
Your acquirer reviews your landing pages, not just your checkout. An ad that breaks a platform rule often breaks a card network rule too.
