Can You Sell Telehealth Services on Amazon, eBay, Etsy or TikTok Shop?

Why marketplaces can't sell a consultation or a prescription, what a telehealth brand can list there, and where payment for care has to happen.

Article summary

Not the care itself

TL;DR

No, not the care itself. Marketplaces sell products from third-party sellers; a consultation, a prescription or a treatment plan isn't a listable product, and prescription medication is off-limits to third-party sellers on the main platforms, as seller guides report. A telehealth brand can list non-prescription products. Payment for care happens on your own checkout.

  • None of the four marketplaces offers a category for remote consultations sold by third-party sellers (our review, November 2, 2026).
  • A telehealth brand that launched on TikTok Shop in September 2025 said the platform limits it to non-prescription products.
  • Amazon runs its own "virtual healthcare storefront", where care is offered by "One Medical professional corporations and the affiliated medical services providers"; it isn't a seller program (terms updated June 27, 2024).
  • Off-marketplace, Stripe restricts "Telemedicine and telehealth services" and reviews each business.

Why a consultation doesn't fit a marketplace

A marketplace ships a product to a buyer and pays the seller. Telehealth works differently:

  1. Screening first

The patient must be screened first: intake, a clinician review, sometimes identity checks.

  2. State license

The clinician must be licensed in the patient's state, which a marketplace order can't verify.

  3. One patient

The prescription is issued to one patient, then filled by a licensed pharmacy.

  4. Health data

Health data can't flow through a marketplace order page or seller messages.

So the question isn't whether a marketplace allows telehealth. It's that none is built to deliver it.

What a telehealth brand can sell there

Some telehealth brands use marketplaces for reach, with products that need no prescription. The TikTok Shop example above is one1Modern Retail, interview with a telehealth brand on TikTok Shop, September 5, 2025.

  • Non-prescription products under your brand, sold as ordinary retail
  • Rules that apply: those of the product category, not telehealth. Our guides for supplement brands on marketplaces and skincare brands on marketplaces cover them
  • Keep it separate: no promise of a prescription or a consultation in the listing, and no health questions in the order flow

Where the payment for care happens

On your own checkout, with a processor that has reviewed your model. Even there, telemedicine is gated: Stripe restricts it4Stripe, Prohibited and restricted businesses, read November 2, 2026, and Shopify Payments lists prescription drugs among regulated products3Shopify Help Center, Shopify Payments eligibility, read November 2, 2026.

Frequently asked questions

Can I sell telehealth on Amazon?

Not as a third-party seller: Amazon has no category for remote consultations. Its own telehealth storefront is run by an Amazon entity that "does not practice medicine", with care from affiliated medical providers. Sell care on your own site; list only non-prescription products on Amazon.

Can telehealth brands sell on TikTok Shop?

Only non-prescription products. A telehealth brand that joined TikTok Shop in 2025 said the platform restricts it to products that don't need a prescription.

Can I sell prescription medication on a marketplace?

Not as a third-party seller on the major US marketplaces, as seller guides report. Prescription medication is dispensed by licensed pharmacies; see online pharmacy payment processing.
