Landing Pages for Online Pharmacies

What an online pharmacy landing page must show, the Google, Meta and TikTok rules that reach it, the structure that converts and what to leave out.

Article summary

TL;DR

An online pharmacy landing page has to do three things before it sells: prove the pharmacy is legitimate, follow the rules of the ad platform that sent the visitor, and explain that an order is reviewed before anything ships. Then it converts like any landing page: one promise, one path, a clear call to action, fast on mobile.

  • The FDA tells patients to use pharmacies licensed by their state board, with a US address and a licensed pharmacist available. Show all three.
  • Google restricts prescription drug terms "in ads, landing pages, and keywords" and requires online pharmacies to apply.
  • Meta requires online pharmacies to be "actively certified with LegitScript"; TikTok asks for NABP or LegitScript certification in the US.
  • Pharmacies that dispense controlled substances online must show a compliance statement and set information on their homepage (21 CFR 1304.45).

What a pharmacy landing page must show

Visitors arriving from an ad do not know you. The FDA tells them what to check before buying1FDA, BeSafeRx frequently asked questions, content current as of September 21, 2020, so put it in view.

ElementWhy
State licensingA safe pharmacy is "licensed by the state board of pharmacy" where the patient lives and where it operates (FDA)1FDA, BeSafeRx frequently asked questions, content current as of September 21, 2020
Prescription requiredA pharmacy that sells without a prescription is a warning sign (FDA)1FDA, BeSafeRx frequently asked questions, content current as of September 21, 2020

State boards may add their own website rules. Check those of the states where you are licensed.

Ad platform rules that reach your landing page

The platform reviews the page you send traffic to, not only the ad.

Watch out

A landing page built for one platform may break another's rules. Keep one compliant page per platform, and change ads, not the required disclosures.

Ad rules in detail: can you advertise prescription drugs on Facebook, Google and TikTok.

The structure that converts

Once trust and rules are covered, a pharmacy landing page follows the same logic as any good page.

  1. Headline matched to the ad. Same promise, same words, no medication names where the platform restricts them.
  2. Trust strip. Licensing, pharmacist, address, certification, right under the headline.
  3. How it works, in three steps. Order, prescription review, delivery. Say that payment is authorized at checkout and charged only if the order is approved.
  4. Price and what it includes. Shipping, pharmacist access, refill reminders.
  5. One call to action, repeated after each section. One path, no menu that leaks visitors.
  6. FAQ on eligibility, delivery times, refills and cancellation.

Trust and rules first, then the page converts like any other.

Then the checkout. See checkout optimization for online pharmacies and, for the full path, sales funnels for online pharmacies.

Example

Headline "Your prescriptions, delivered from a licensed US pharmacy." Trust strip: "Licensed in [your states] · Pharmacist available [your hours] · [Your certification]". Steps: "1. Order online. 2. A pharmacist reviews your prescription. 3. We ship. Your card is charged only once your order is approved."

What to keep off the page

  1. Health claims and results

No promise of an outcome from any medication.

  2. Claims of similar efficacy to prescription drugs

For non-prescription products. Visa bans these for every merchant6Visa Core Rules, edition of October 24, 2026, section 1.9.2.1. Tagada follows Visa and Mastercard rules and the laws that apply to payments.

  3. No prescription needed

For prescription-only products. It is the FDA's first warning sign1FDA, BeSafeRx frequently asked questions, content current as of September 21, 2020.

  4. Medication names

  5. Health questions in a form that feeds your marketing tools

Ask eligibility questions in the funnel, and send the answers to the pharmacy side only.

  6. Fake urgency

Countdown timers on a prescription service erode the trust you just built.

Frequently asked questions

What should a pharmacy landing page include?

A headline matched to the ad, proof of legitimacy (state licensing, a US address, a pharmacist patients can reach, certification), a three-step "how it works" that explains prescription review, the price, one call to action and a short FAQ. The FDA lists the legitimacy signals patients should look for.

Can I run Google or Meta ads to an online pharmacy landing page?

Yes, with approval. Google requires online pharmacies to apply and, in the US, to hold LegitScript or NABP accreditation plus Google certification. Meta requires active LegitScript certification and its own written permission. The landing page itself is reviewed.

What does an online pharmacy have to display on its website?

Your state boards set the rules for your pharmacy. If you dispense controlled substances online, federal rules add a homepage compliance statement, your DEA-registered name and address, the pharmacist-in-charge and the states where you are licensed. Patients are told by the FDA to look for licensing, a US address and a pharmacist.

Can I mention medication names on my landing page?

Check your ad platform first. Google restricts prescription drug terms on landing pages and in keywords. Where names are allowed, stay factual: no claims about results. Many pharmacies keep paid-traffic pages focused on the service, and list products deeper in the site.
