Can You Advertise Telehealth Services on Facebook, Google and TikTok?

Can you run telehealth ads on Facebook, Google and TikTok? Each platform's rules, LegitScript, authorization, targeting and what processors read.

Article summary

TL;DR

Yes, with conditions. Google and Meta both require telehealth providers to hold LegitScript certification, then apply for their own authorization; both limit who you can target. TikTok's US policy doesn't name telemedicine but restricts prescription drug ads to adults. No platform lets you promote prescription drugs freely, and certification never guarantees ad approval.

  • Google's "Prescription drug services" policy covers "telemedicine providers"; in the US it requires LegitScript certification and Google certification.
  • Meta "requires online pharmacies and telehealth providers to be actively certified with LegitScript", then a Meta authorization.
  • Meta allows targeting only in the United States, Canada or New Zealand, and only people 18 or older.
  • TikTok's US section asks for LegitScript or NABP only for pharmacies, and an 18+ audience for prescription drug ads (policy updated September 2026).
  • LegitScript says certification "does not guarantee advertising approval".

Why your ads matter to your processor

Your acquirer reads the same pages your ads send traffic to. An ad promise that the checkout doesn't keep turns into refunds and disputes.

Frequently asked questions

Can I run Facebook ads for a telehealth company?

Yes, after LegitScript certification and Meta's own authorization. Target only the US, Canada or New Zealand, and only people 18 or older. Ads that promote telehealth services generally don't need written authorization.

Do I need LegitScript to advertise telehealth on Google?

Yes, in the US. Google allows telemedicine providers "accredited by LegitScript's Healthcare Merchant Certification Program" and requires them to be certified with Google as well. Other countries have their own conditions, such as a local license in Singapore.

Does TikTok allow telehealth ads?

TikTok's US policy doesn't name telemedicine. Prescription drug ads need proof of regulator approval and an 18+ audience; pharmacies need NABP or LegitScript. Some countries, such as Austria and Romania, prohibit remote consultation ads.

Can I mention medication names in telehealth ads?

Google restricts prescription drug terms in ads, landing pages and keywords, and bans them outright in several countries. Meta requires authorization for prescription drug ads and bans targeting minors. Most brands advertise the service, not the medication.

Does LegitScript certification guarantee my ads get approved?

No. LegitScript says certification "does not guarantee advertising approval". Google and Meta still review your account and each ad.
