Why Stripe Closed Your Supplement Brand Account (and What to Do Next)
Why Stripe closes supplement brand accounts, the 120-day payout pause, how to appeal, export your customers' cards, and keep selling.
Article summary
TL;DR
Stripe usually closes a supplement account for health claims it reads as harmful, a trial or upsell funnel, or a rise in disputes. When it acts for unacceptable risk, it typically pauses payouts for 120 days, then reviews the balance. In the first days: read the notice, appeal with evidence, request your card data export, and move payments to a processor that reviews supplement brands first.
- Stripe "will typically restrict or pause payouts to the User's bank account for 120 days" from its first email.
- After 120 days it reviews the account: release all or part of the balance, keep holding it, or cancel the payout.
- You can appeal through the Dashboard, and appeal again if the first one fails.
- Stripe exports saved cards only to a PCI DSS Level 1 processor, without subscriptions or Link cards.
- Stripe can "close User's Stripe Account at any time" under its agreement.

Don't do this
- Don't open a new Stripe account with the same products under another name or entity. Same business, same review.
- Don't split volume across accounts to stay under thresholds: Stripe lists evasion of chargeback monitoring among prohibited uses2Stripe, Restricted and prohibited businesses, updated September 22, 2026.
- Don't promise subscribers a charge you can't make yet.
